Heavy Rainfall Warning Issued for Coastal Karnataka

• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for parts of Coastal Karnataka over the next five days.
• On 4th August 2026, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by sustained winds of 30-40 km/h.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall is expected to cause localised flooding, waterlogging, and potential disruptions to transportation and daily activities in the affected districts of Coastal Karnataka. Strong winds may also lead to damage to weak structures, trees, and power lines. Residents in low-lying areas and near rivers are at higher risk of flooding. Agricultural activities may also be impacted due to water accumulation in fields.
